Real Life Experiences With Auto Mechanics in Africa

A lot of us have cars and when our cars get poorly, we take them to get attention. Sometimes much needed, sometimes just a little spruce up. Whichever it is, millions of us entrust our ‘trusty steeds'(automobiles and bikes) in the hands of garages every day, and picking the right one is essential. Otherwise, we run the risk of multiple damage or long-term issues.

That being said a good number of people will give you the most gruesome stories about what they have encountered in the hands of charlatan garages and mechanics. We compiled some of the best stories we could find and decided to feature them.

Mechanics!!! some shady ones are very hungry and pretend to be so nice!!! Took my evil spirit to dis guy, told me my fuel pump is bad!!! Paid 18k, came back later in the day and my car was still having the same problem!!!Agreed!!!Oya give me the former fuel pump, he told me he forgot it at ladipo!!!i smiled and left…..summary…He spent 4 days behind bars….

Her case is quite fair when compared to mine. Spent 352k trying to fix a driveshaft and axles of Mercedes E350 4matic and you know what? the car is parked somewhere in Ebonyi state(why actually am in Bayelsa state)

I can attest to this, one thing I’ve learned is that you know the problem before you even go to them. I lost over 100k to these criminals months ago, they condemned my engine so tey I had to sell the car off 150k less the value. few of them are honest though. any mechanic that always has cars in his workshop is good and honest if not, nobody would patronize him again. those dubious ones are always poor no matter what.

Car mechanics are notorious for lying to their customers in order to gain extra work for things that don’t really need doing or for charging extra for things if they can tell someone doesn’t really know what they are talking about and sadly, this can lead to people spending lots of money without actually needing to. So the next time you decide to give your car or automotive a ‘going over’, just remember to take it to a reputable garage or mechanic just to be safe.
